Welcome to my classroom! I have been teaching for over 20 years and have taught Kindergarten through 4th grade. Before coming to Salemburg I taught in Charlotte for 10 years and Wilmington 2 years as well. I received my teaching certification from UNC-Wilmington and also have a degree from NC State University (GO WOLFPACK!!). Mr. Laurie and I have two daughters, Haley and Kirsten.
The 3rd grade year is very important year for your child to grow as a reader. I tell my students they should be reading at least 20-30 minutes every night. Time spent at home reading is important in building reading stamina and will help to grow their vocabulary. Increased reading stamina and a strong vocabulary will help your child be well prepared for the reading EOG they will have at the end of this school year.
