At their July 18 board work session, the SCS Board of Education approved the recommendation from SCS Superintendent Dr. Jamie King for a new elementary school principal.
Whitney Poper will become the new principal of Salemburg Elementary School. She will move into this role with over 17 years of experience in education. For the past two years, Pope has served Roseboro Elementary School as their assistant principal and principal intern. Prior to that role, she served as an instructional coach and high school math teacher with Sampson County Schools.
“I am excited about this opportunity for me, my family, and the Salemburg Elementary School staff, but more importantly for the difference I know we can make together for SES students and their families,” said Poper.
Poper earned a master's in school administration as a principal fellow and a high school teaching license from NC State University. She graduated as a teaching fellow from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.
