NC Governor Cooper has proclaimed November 2024 as Career Development Month. Additionally, November 13 is National Career Development Coordinator (CDC) Day. The proclamation can be read here.
Sampson County Schools is pleased to introduce you to our four school-level CDCs and one district-level CDC;
Hobbton High School - Shelley Fussell
Lakewood High School - Heather Tew
Midway High School - Chantel Wilson
Union High School - Danielle Sills
SCS Middle School CDC - Ginger Naylor
CDCs assist students in understanding the 16 Career Clusters in the National Career Clusters Framework, representing 79 Career Pathways to success in college, career, and citizen readiness. Through career development education, CTE students gain the critical thinking, creativity, leadership, and essential employability skills necessary to thrive in the modern business world and contribute to the vitality of our state and nation. SCS offers 9 career development program areas for students.
CDCs empower students to make informed decisions regarding their post-high school plans, which may include immediate employment in a civilian or military occupation, or further education at a vocational program, community college, or university.
