The third annual Midway Raider Round Up Band Competition will be hosted on Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at Midway High School in Newton Grove, NC! It is our pledge to you to provide a great day filled with music education and a great experience for ALL bands! In the first two annual Midway “Raider Round Up” Band Competitions, 24-26 bands performed.
We will be hosting a traditional competition (40% music - 30% marching - 30% general effect). Most importantly, we will be providing quality judges who will make this an educational experience by providing a meaningful critique of your show in the hope it will help your students for the remainder of the year. We strive to have great judges who are ready to give positive feedback and constructive criticism. Each band will receive all of their judges comments, along with a video of the show.
We are also very excited to host The Spirit of the Carolinas from UNC-Pembroke as our exhibition band. They will perform at the end of the competition day! We know that this will be an educational moment for your students.
The awards ceremony will include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in all caption awards, Spirit Award, highest Music Award, and Grand Champion Awards for the highest scoring band of the day. When you attend our competition, you have our guarantee that you will be provided with the utmost care and attention in your day. A Director’s hospitality area will be there for all Band Directors and their assistants, and of course, with lots of great food and drinks. Our excellent facilities will be at your disposal for uniform changing and anything else you may need. As we did in 2019 and 2022, we will have a courtesy photographer on campus to take pictures of each group all day.
Registration fee will be $45.00 if you get it in before September 30th, or $60 from October 1st - October 14th. Bands will be placed in classes according to number of winds (roughly):
up to 30 A
31 to 50 AA
51 to 70 AAA
71+ AAAA
Classes will be adjusted according to number of bands registered and sizes of the bands. A 5A class may be added if more than 15 bands register for the competition. Performance order in class is based on when we receive registration AND payment. We want to provide a positive experience for all! We will decide on a split or full awards ceremony after registration closes to make the day the best experience possible for all. In 2019 and 2022, we did have 5 classes and did do a split awards ceremony.
