At their April 22 regular monthly board meeting, the SCS Board of Education approved the recommendation from SCS Superintendent Dr. Jamie King to appoint Nicole Peterson, as the principal of Midway Middle School.
Peterson moves into her new role with over 18 years of experience in education all with Sampson County Schools. Prior to serving as the SCS PK-8 director since 2019, Peterson has been a classroom teacher at Union High School, assistant principal at Union Elementary and principal at Plain View Elementary. She is a product of Sampson County Schools, attending in the Union district and graduating from Union High School.
Peterson holds a Master of School Administration, add on license, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching both from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
“We are excited for this new journey for Mrs. Peterson and know that her vast experience in Sampson County Schools will serve Midway Middle School well,” said SCS Superintendent Dr. Jamie King.
Peterson will remain the PK-8 director through June 30, 2024 and will transition on July 1, 2024 as principal of Midway Middle School.
