Students in grades four and five nominated their classmates to serve as student leaders. Ten students campaigned in the gym, soliciting votes from their peers. Today, the entire student body will cast their vote, electing our first SGA President, Vice-President, and two secretaries. We are "Building the Future!"

This year, our 2nd Grade students are participating in a Read Aloud project in addition to their NC Course of Study. Recently they completed their first chapter book, Horrible Harry. A writing exercise was given to students where they reflected on the story, by providing details and characteristics that the main character, Harry, had. Students used their comprehension skills to recall the story and ask and answer questions.

This year, we aim to strengthen our school's culture by identifying and developing student leaders. Our Student Government Association (SGA) initiative, led by Ms. Donna St. Pierre, the school counselor, will provide leadership opportunities to our students, while also teaching them of the responsibilities of elected officials and the rights and responsibilities Americans have as citizens.

Parents and Families, Yesterday, we sent home the "official" car tags. Each car rider was given two tags with their assigned number printed on them. If your student did not bring a car tag home, check their folder or bookbag this afternoon. Thanks for being patient as these arrives and as we take measures to keep our students safe.
