College Board Opportunity Scholarships - ongoing
$40,000 forgivable loans may be awarded for use at one of the eight partner institutions.
Minimum Academic Requirements
High school applicants or applicants with fewer than 24 hours of college credit must have a minimum unweighted high school GPA of 3.0. While not required, we strongly encourage applicants to submit an SAT and/or ACT score.
Applicants with more than 24 hours of college credit must have a minimum of a 2.7 cumulative GPA.
Be willing to teach in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), special education, or elementary education (K-6) licensure area in a North Carolina public school, traditional or charter.
1 - Transformational Scholars at NC State
The Transformational Scholarships Program will provide scholarships totaling $40,000 over four years to promising high school students from Eastern North Carolina who will return to the region to teach after graduating from NC State’s College of Education.
Must Apply to NC State by November 1 or Jan 15 and list College Of Education as first choice major.
1- Goodnight Scholars at NC State
To receive an automatic invitation to apply, a student must:
Submit his or her general NC State application by November 1.
Be a North Carolina resident.
Indicate a family income of less than $110,000 on the NC State application (confirmed via the FAFSA.
Select a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
major or STEM Education major.
Demonstrate a history of exceptional academic performance.

1 - Buy-Rite's Beauty School Scholarship
Buy-Rite Beauty will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a hairstylist or cosmetology student who best exemplifies our core beliefs.
1 - UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program
Participation in the UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program is open to incoming freshmen (first-year students) and transfer students majoring in Deaf Education, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, Special Education, and Dual (Elementary and Special) Education.
In order to be eligible for participation in the UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program, students must meet the following criteria:
North Carolina residency.
3.80 weighted cumulative high school GPA recommended.
3.00 cumulative GPA at the end of the first semester at UNCG.
3.30 cumulative GPA by the second year at UNCG.
Must maintain a minimum 3.0 overall GPA to remain in the program (unless a student’s program GPA requirements are higher).
3 - Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards
Be currently enrolled in high school or home school program and graduating in the spring of 2025
Must have a minimum unweighted 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or 7.5 on a 10.0 scale
Must enroll at an accredited higher education institution in 2025-2026
Be of Hispanic heritage (includes Spain, Brazil, Philippines)
If selected, attendance to the virtual regional awards ceremony is mandatory
6 - Chick-fil-A Community Scholars
To apply to become a Chick-fil-A Community Scholar, you must:
Be a resident in the United States, Puerto Rico or Canada.
Be a postsecondary undergraduate or graduate student or planning to enroll in undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school
Be recommended by a teacher, coach, community leader or mentor, addressing the applicant’s personal and/or professional achievement. Up to three recommendation letters will be accepted.
Show demonstrated care through community-service in the twelve (12) months prior to application. You will be asked to share in what ways you were able to make an impact on your community, friends and family.
Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent). Academic awards and recognition will be considered. Applicants are required to upload a transcript that displays their name, school name, classes taken and GPA.
Demonstrate financial need.
Not be employed at a Chick-fil-A® restaurant or Chick-fil-A, Inc. at the time of application
6 - Hawkins Memorial Scholarship
Students must be working toward a degree in instrumental (BAND) music education
and attending a college/university in the United States.
12 - ELKS MOST VALUABLE STUDENT PROGRAM
The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants. Any high school senior who is a U.S. citizen may apply.
14 -Jack Kent Cooke
Awards $55,000 PER YEAR

Earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above
Demonstrate significant unmet financial need. We will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000. However, we anticipate that a majority of scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive a Pell grant.
14 - Greenhouse Scholars Program
3.5 or above GPA required
Household income of $70,000 or less
Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and a legal resident of Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, New York, or North Carolina.
15 - ROBERTSON SCHOLARS PROGRAM
This scholarship is a collaboration between UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University. Criteria include high academic standards, leadership potential, public service and interest in diversity of people and cultures in and outside USA.
Must complete application for admission to UNC Chapel Hill by October 15
Must complete Thomas Wolfe application by November 15
Must be a student writer with plans to attend UNC-CH
30-Denny's Hungry for Education Scholarship
All applicants must be enrolled in an accredited educational institution (high school) in the continental United States or Puerto Rico.
All applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Puerto Rico
Scholarship funds awarded to winners must be used for education, such as tuition and related fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses at an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
GPA Level Requirement: 2.5 or higher
Students must provide a 300-word essay on how Denny’s can unite communities.
Farm to Table Scholarship - Each month until June
In North Carolina, Mountaire is partnering with local schools, agriculture programs and culinary programs to find nominees each month from September to June. Each winner will take home a $2,000 scholarship and be invited to a Farm to Table banquet at the end of the school year to celebrate. Two overall winners will be announced then and presented an additional $5,000 scholarship to pursue their career goals. Interested applicants should apply online below.
